The GCABL is pleased to recognize certain attorneys selected by its members for the following awards:
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors an attorney with at least 30 years of practice experience who has made significant contributions to the law, as well as Guilford County and the community at large. The recipient is someone whose personal and/or professional paths have helped to affect change in our society and inspire others. Also, this recipient should embody the purposes of the GCABL, which are to: 1) educate its membership regarding issues in the legal profession; 2) promote fellowship and cooperation in the legal community; 3) strive through his/her actions to promote the general welfare of black lawyers in Guilford County and the black community; and 4) uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession.

Distinguished Advocate Award
This award recipient: 1) has the highest ethical standards; 2) shows great skill and ability as an attorney and commitment to excellence in work; 3) exhibits a true commitment to client service; 4) demonstrates a respect and passion for the law; 5) is held in the highest regard by his/her peers; and 6) is dedicated to the community and the bar through pro bono and/or volunteer service activities. The recipient must be an attorney with at least 10 years of practice experience who is a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar, as well as the GCABL.

Outstanding Young Lawyer Award
This award recipient exhibits: 1) professional excellence; 2) service to the profession and the bar; 3) service to the community; and 4) a reputation of advancing legal ethics and professional responsibility. The recipient must be an attorney with fewer than 10 years of practice experience who is a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar, as well as the GCABL.
